- Summary of Baltic Sea — 2017
Day 87 I left my hotel at Stortorget in Malmö at 8:30am in the drizzle, which fortunatly stopped after 10 km, had some difficulties to avoid all the roads directing to the motorway and followed the coastline toward Helsingborg. I arrived in Helsingborg around 1pm and met there Ciska and Michael, a couple from Australia who were cycling the world with their two kids since 2008. Since mid 2015 they are pursuing their endless trip without their sons, who decided to go their own independant way. You can follow their incredible life adventure at www.crazyguyonabike.com.
A took the ferry and arrived in Helsingør/Denmark around 2:30pm.
The coastal road toward Copenhagen offers beautiful views and I enjoyed the ride. Twenty kilometres before Copenhagen I followed the cycle way along the railway line, with many steep up and downs. At the beginning I tried to avoid the many snails on the asphalt, but I had to give up and my bike became more and more covered with slimy minced snails I tried to get rid of as I reached Copenhagen.
I contacted my Airbnb host Karoline from Norway short before arriving at her shared flat close to the city centre and the Rosenborg castle. She welcomed me and gave me all necessary informations for my stay. In the evening I bought some food in a nearby organic food shop and later went to the irish pub across the street.

Stage 71:
114.4 km 5.1 km 7:12 16.6 km/h 400 m 420 m 6,429.4 km 6,796.6 km
Day 88 Despite the drizzle I looked around in the city centre.
Day 89 The weather became friendlier on that day and I made an extended walk along the former harbour quay of Københavns Havn and Sydhavnen, stopped at the Fishtorget shopping mall to get new shoe rain protectors, went back and crossed the water on Langebro to follow the other side to Papirøen, a crowded street food place, then crossed the water again on a pedestrian and cycle bridge to reach one of the touristic highlights in Copenhagen – Nyhavn — with its scenic houses, cafés and restaurant along the marina. The last part of my walk brought me back to the city centre, where I climbed up the Round Tower before walking through the park around Rosenborg Castle.
Day 90 The sun was shining in the morning, but I first decideds to continue to update my blog before meeting my brother, whose cruise ship had reached Copenhagen earlier in the morning. We met around noon at a Nyhavn restaurant for lunch. Later I accompained him back tohos ship and walked around the Kastellet fortress before it started to rain. On the way back to the flat I stopped at the patisserie “La Glace” and tasted some delicious cakes.
