- Summary of Baltic Sea — 2017
Day 21 Mārtiņš brought their little boy to the Kindergarten and came back home before going to work. Thank you Mārtiņš and Agnese for your hospitality!
I said goodbye, stopped at a nearby cake shop to get some breakfast and took the costal road to Jūrkalne, where I arrived around 1pm. I bought some food at the local shop and went to the famous cliffs my next Warmshowers host David had recommanded to stop by. I allowed me a break on the cliffs before heading to Kūldiga.
I finally arrived in Kūldiga using the coordinates given by David. I was eager to meet David, who is in my eyes, having followed his travel blog, the ultimate cyclonomad! David and his fiancée Zane picked me up from the street and helped me getting all my luggage and the bike into their flat on the first floor.
It was so touching how both of them helped me feeling really comfortable. After having taken a welcome warm shower, David asked me if I would like to go to Ventas Rumba, the famous waterfall on the Venta river. Of course, we did it and I could take a footbath in the river and see the flying sturgeons in their attempt to jump up the natural river step. The sun was shining, storks were flying above the river or chasing in shallow water, young people swimming upstream from the waterfall and I was so grateful to willfully seize this unique moment!
We went back home through the town and David as perfect guide showed me some interesting places. As we arrived my travel clothes have still being washed and were hanging on the drying rack.
David and Zane had prepared a copious and delicious dinner and I felt like sitting on top of the world.
Thank you David and Zane, you are awesome hosts and I sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you in the future!
