- Summary of Scandinavia 2019
Day 13 After the amazing rocky landscape of Magma Park, the more or less flat coastal area between Egersund and Stavanger looked boring. With the fresh headwind blowing at 35 to 45 km/h it was definitely not cyclist-friendly. South of Tananger, the cycleway is situated just between the sandy dunes of Solavika and separated from the road by a crash barrier. The tarmac disappeared under sand wawes as I came close to the dunes and, after a while, I had to push my heavy bike through the sand, the headwind being blowing sand in my face. A cyclist came from the opposite direction on his road bike, lift his bike over the crash barrier and moved onto the road. Unfortunately, my bike was somehow heavier and I could not escape the sandy trap so easy. After having finally passed the sandy zone, I stopped to get rid of the sand in my hairs, my shoes and on my clothes before reaching my cosy hotel in Tananger.
