- Summary of Scandinavia 2019
“To move, to breathe, to fly, to float,
To gain all while you give,
To roam the roads of lands remote,
To travel is to live.”
— Hans Christian Andersen
In 2017 I hit the road to my very first long distance cycle tour around the Baltic Sea and came after 98 days, 79 of them on the saddle, back home with many memorable impressions and the strong desire to go for the next cycle touring adventure … which led me on 93 day stages from Northern Germany along the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean coasts to Tarifa and Gibraltar, along the Mediterranean coast to Barcelona, through France to the Rhine river and across Germany back home in 2018.
The above planned route may be subject to change during the tour
Expected tour length: about 85 day stages and 8,600 km (incl. 490 km by ferry)
Planned for: mid May – mid August 2019
Main stages (in travel direction):
- Germany (Part 1): Walsrode, Stade, Heide and Husum 360 km
- Denmark (Part 1): Ribe, Hvide Sande, Thisted and Hirtshals 410 km
- Norway: Kristiansand, Stavanger, Bergen, Ålesund, Trondheim, Lofoten, Vesterålen, Senja, Tromsø, Nordkapp and Kirkenes 4,400 km
- Finland: Inari, Ivalo, Sodankylä, Salla, Kemijärvi, Romanievi and Pello 800 km
- Sweden: Pello, Gällivare, Jokkmokk, Östersund, Kristinehamn and Helsingborg 1,900 km
- Denmark (Part 2): Helsingør, Roskilde, Vordingborg and Rødby 270 km

The countdown is on …
From mid May onwards you can follow my adventure here!
