Day 101 The last evening in Spain (and in Catalonia). I have spent two months on the roads of the Iberic peninsula and now look back with some nostalgia at this time, the great people I have met, sometimes just for a short chat on the road, the beautiful landscapes, the roaring sound of loud speaking people on café and restaurant terraces when cycling through a town at lunchtime, the many slopes, especially those where I had to push my bike or was chased by cars which tried to overtake me, the double flat tyre stop in the burnt-down forest in Portugal, as friendly policemen stopped to help me and we had an interesting chat or the two Guardia Civil officers who thought I was getting lost, when cycling through the harbour area of Sevilla to get to the gravel road along the Guadalquivir, one of them eager to learn more about my trip, the bike and the navigation app. Tonight, after a pantagruelian dinner at Casa Marieta, Plaça de la Independencia in Girona, I just say „Muchas gracias España. You kept me safe all that time and gave me unforgettable memories!“ I furthermore hope, that nationalism and its selfish storytellers will not succeed and again divide Europe!
