Day 94 I left Annelise’s home at 10am and had arrived at the Sønderborg harbour as Annelise texted me, that I had forgotten my smartphone charger. I cycled the 5 km back to her place, but the charger she handed me over was not mine and my 4-port USB charger was as usual in my rear bag.
I cycled again to the harbour and enjoyed for a while the scenery and the sunny weather. I left Sønderborg around noon, passed the history centre Dybbøl Banke commemorationg the Danish-Prussian war of 1864 and followed road 401. In Rinkenæs Sogn I turned onto the Fjordvejen and cycled along the Flensburg Firth until Kollund, where I turned into a path through the Kollund Forest leading to the border crossing Schusterkate. I met many cyclists in the forest and crossed the Danish-German border at 3pm.
In Flensburg I stopped for lunch at a small greek restaurant, which friendly owner showed great interest in my cycling adventure.
I finally reached Peter and Anja’s cosy home. I had been pleasantly surprised to receive their invitation 2 months ago while cycling from Nurmes to Kuhmo (Finland) and I would not have missed to meet them on my way back home.
Peter and Anja are wonderful hosts with a remarkable travel experience. I enjoyed the peaceful evening spent in their beautiful garden, having interesting talks while their 4 chickens were pecking in the grass around us.
