Day 17 I will never get routine with this and it will always remain difficult to leave such great hosts like Evaldas’ family. Thank you all for your kindness, our discussions and a special thanks to Evaldas’ mum who pampered me like her own child and prepared such a great meal before I left!
Evaldas’ sister was so kind and brought me and my bike to Lukšiai by car to avoid the gravel road.
Again on the road, I contacted Juste, another Warmshowers host with a great traveling experience I had contacted while preparing my Baltic Sea tour, to confirm that I would be coming along within the next hour. Juste and her husband Nerijus and living with their baby and their dog in a house in the small village of Valenčiūnai. We sat outside drinking coffee and tee, eating self-made cookies and I am grateful to have followed her invitation and met such a friendly and positive person. At noon I realized that I still had 75 km to go and I had again to say goodbye. Thank you Juste and Nerijus. I hope to see you again!
Five kilometres before Pagėgiai, I met a couple of MTB cyclists from Kaliningrad. The russian guy told me, that they were going to Pagėgiai to do some shopping, but his girlfriend seemed to be really exhausted and I wondered, how they intended to cycle back to Kaliningrad.
