Day 12 It was time to visit the northeast part of the island by bike. I took the coastal path to Playa Honda, Arrecife and Costa Teguise. Having passed Costa Teguise I continued along the coast to the village Los Ancones. There I took an stony track to Guatiza. As I stopped in the middle of nowhere to take a picture, a rescue helicopter flew by, turning circles above me. The pilote probably thought that I was in trouble. That’s why I made hand signals to tell them that everything was fine.
I crossed Guatiza, passed the Jardin de Cactus and got to Mala, where I took the LZ-1 road to Orzola. After Orrieta begins the Malpaís de la Corona, a 30 sq. km wide, impassable lava field. … . 119 km
